Wallkill is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 27,426 at the 2010 census. The Town of Wallkill, often confused the Hamlet of Wallkill is centrally located in the county. Interstate 84 crosses New York State Route 17 in the southern part of the town. Referred to as Middletown, it lies on the outskirts of the city and is famous for its eateries, entertainment and shopping.Wallkill consists of Scotchtown, Circleville and Mechanicstown. The Galleria Mall sits in the heart of Wallkill and is visited by thousands daily. Scotchtown is often the destination of NYC police and firefighters because of its proximity to the highways, making it the area's leading commuter neighborhood.
