Montgomery is a bustling upstate New York country community about ten minutes from the cities of Middletown and Newburgh in Orange County, New York. Montgomery still smacks of the Historical Upstate village with its shops and small town life-style. A commuter haven, Montgomery blends Old World charm with It?s new bedroom community occupants. Just minutes from routes 211, 17, and Interstate-84. Montgomery is also home to the Orange County Airport, and is within 15 miles of Stewart International Airport in Newburgh. The village of Montgomery, New York has a population of about 3,636 as of the 2000 census with a median income of $49,000. The village is central to the Town of Montgomery and is named for General Richard Montgomery. Montgomery who was commissioned as as Brigadier General in the American Revolutionary War and led an army into Canada where he captured the city of Montreal.
The Village of Montgomery is home to Orange County Choppers, made world famous by their cable television program, "American Choppers". Just outside the village, you can find Winding Hills park with recreational camping, fishing, and hiking and the world famous Winding Hills Golf and Country Club, an executive par 56 golf course.
