Monticello is a village located in the Town of Thompson in Sullivan County, New York. The village was named after the Virginia residence of Thomas Jefferson. The town hosts one of the only Sullivan County-based radio stations. WSUL 98.3 FM. The village of Monticello is the county seat and thus it has the county's court house, jail, and the county's only Wal-Mart. Monticello is famous for its Monticello Raceway which attracted people from all over the northeast in its heydey. Now the Raceway has turned into an Indian-operated casino.
