Middletown is a centrally located upstate New York city  right on the intersection of Interstate 84 and route 17 , as well as routes 211 and 17M in the Town of Wallkill, Orange County. One of three cities in the county, Middletown has a population of about 25,400 with a median household income of $39,570 as of the 2000 census. Middletown school district consists of 4 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and one high school and a handful of Catholic schools. Middletown High School has an active sports program including Football, Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Swimming, Track and Field, Soccer, Field Hockey, and various other athletic programs, as well as other after school academic and social programs. Orange County Community College is also centrally located to Middletown.  The city also boasts one of the largest libraries in the county. The new  Thrall Library, which opened in 1995 is approx. 30,00 sq, ft. of library with all the high tech equipmnet of the modern day library.

Middletown has all the amenities of city life. There´s public transportation in the form of buses, senior buses, taxis, and Metro-North railroad system which runs daily to and from New York City and Hoboken New Jersey.
A premier commuter haven, Middletown blends inner city convenience with commuter filled bedroom communities.
 Middletown also offers four large malls with nationally known brand name shopping centers, theaters, restaurants, etc. You name it. If Middletown doesn´t have it, it´s close to it. Middletown offers two of the nicest golf courses around the county, Orange County Golf Club and the Town of Wallkill Golf Club.
Middletown also features stock car racing at the famous Orange County Fair Speedway which could be the oldest running racetrack in America constructed in 1857 for horse racing and became a auto racing venue in 1919. Racing events are scheduled every Saturday night from spring to fall with many special events during the fair season.  The Orange County fairgrounds also hosts the Orange County Fair once a year and many other events including 4H events, Car shows, Computer shows, and indoor motorcycle racing during the winter months.
